Welfare Response: Supporting a Resident During a MedicResidentialal EmergencyThe Situation

During an evening shift at a residential development in London, a member of the on-site security team noticed that a resident appeared unwell while carrying out a welfare check.
The resident was experiencing concerning symptoms, including difficulty with breathing, and required immediate assistance. Recognising that the situation could require urgent medical attention, the security officer remained with the resident and closely monitored their condition while emergency assistance was arranged.
Our Response
The security officer immediately contacted the emergency services and remained with the resident to provide reassurance and continuous observation while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
The resident's family was also contacted and informed of the situation.
When the ambulance arrived, paramedics took over the resident's medical care and determined that further assessment at hospital was required. The resident was safely accompanied from the property and transported to hospital by ambulance.
Our security team also maintained awareness of the situation throughout the night and remained available to support the resident following their return to the property.
The Outcome
The resident returned to the development later that night after receiving medical attention.
A member of the security team assisted the resident back to their apartment, ensured they were comfortable and provided reassurance that assistance remained available overnight if required.
Following the incident, recommendations were made for increased welfare checks and appropriate updates to the resident's care arrangements, helping ensure that any further concerns could be identified promptly.

Based on my observation, it appeared that something may have occurred with the vehicle, which is likely why the driver did not proceed immediately.
At 19:26 Pm while clocking on, I used the gate entry intercom system and noticed that:
The intercom unit was shaking / not stable
There were scratch marks on the panel.
The barrier arm was broken.
Upon seeing this damage, I then realised that the driver of the collection bin truck had likely caused damage to the gate entry intercom system during the earlier incident at 05:07 am. This would explain why the driver was observed stopping and inspecting the vehicle at the gate entrance on cctv.
Recommedations:
Contact collection/bin contractor to identify driver and vehicle
Arrange for repair/assessment of gate entry intercom system and barrier
